Buy To Let Is Still An Attractive Property Investment Strategy

I still advocate that buy to let is still an attractive property investment strategy despite an article I recently came across implying that there was an increasing number of ‘accidental’ landlords which would result in a reduction in rental yields.

It states that the increasing supply of rental homes will reduce the prices paid for renting these homes with average rental yields falling to 5.7% across the UK this year according to the property website Rightmove.

In addition, 12% of ‘accidental landlords’ surveyed will be buying another investment property during 2013.

With an average rental yield across Britain of 5.7% it is hardly surprising that as many are looking towards investment property as a source of income in retirement. In fact wise investment yields of 8% + can easily be achieved. So not only can you far outperform many other forms of investment (including a pension) but if you buy and hold for the long term you could also benefit from long term capital growth.  Add to this the fact that you have an asset that you can pass down to future generations.

Smart property investment really can provide a great number of solutions to people, and even if as this article implies, rental yields are slightly depressed it still offers a highly competitive and attractive offering which people would be foolish to not look into.

This attraction is proven by the fact that many who originally found themselves as accidental landlords are now actively looking to invest further as they enjoy the benefits their properties are bringing them.
